CAPT 3020: Detector Technology

Course Syllabus
This course will cover the following topics:

  • Avalanche photodiodes and photomultipliers

  • Lab demonstrations

Who Should Attend
This course is intended for scientists, engineers, technicians, and program managers whose work may involve photodetectors and related optoelectronic products.  The level of the course will be adjusted to the general class background. 

About the Instructor
Tom Mahony has been active in Photonics and Photonics business for nearly 30 years. He was a senior member of the technical staff at Hughes Aircraft working on space borne infrared surveillance systems for 10 years. Subsequently, he worked in a similar capacity at Ball Aerospace in the early 1980's as the Technical Director of the Optical Airborne Measurements Program. In 1984, he co-founded Boulder Electro-Optics, which was acquired by Melles Griot in 1986 and which now operates as the Melles Griot Electro-Optics Division. He was a Vice President of Melles Griot and General Manager of the Electro-Optics Division. Tom currently serves as the Executive Director at CAPT.
